This morning’s Ben-my-Chree sailing has been delayed by four hours to enable repairs to take place.

The sailing will now take place at 12.45pm and the return sailing from Heysham will depart at 6.15pm.

An announcement on the 7.45pm sailing to Douglas will be given by 1pm, the Steam Packet says.

The Ben suffered engine failure as it berthed in Douglas yesterday, causing a fire in the engine room.

The Steam Packet says: ’The replacement part for the Ben-my-Chree did not arrive in Liverpool in time for the 7.15pm sailing yesterday evening.

’The part was delivered to Heysham for the overnight service at 2am.

’As a result this sailing has now been rescheduled to depart at 12.45pm.

’Passengers are asked to check-in no later than 45 minutes prior to the new departure time.’
