A new red and black pedestrian crossing installed in Kirk Michael.
The crossing, by Michael Primary School, is made up of red asphalt and replaces white painted markings which the Department of Infrastructure said posed a hazard to TT riders.
A spokesperson from the DoI said that although the markings ’appear different’ they have the ’same legal status as standard crossings’.
There is set to be another crossing put in place at the Baltic and Balleira Road junction in the village.
The new installations were ’in response to community wishes for more formal pedestrian crossings’ in Kirk Michael.
On social media, there has been backlash against the DoI with locals labelling it as ’not visible enough’.
