The Broadway Cinema in the Villa Gaiety complex in Douglas will close for seven days next week.

The government-owned facility will temporarily shut from Monday, September 22 to Sunday, September 28 to enable essential building work and updates to the projection equipment to be carried out.

The screen will reopen on Monday, September 29 with matinee and evening screenings of ‘Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale’.

For that week only, the cinema will be open on Monday and Tuesday for evening screenings.

After that, cinema bosses have said it will return to usual schedule whereby it will be closed on Monday and Tuesday evenings, unless there is a specific event cinema screening taking place.
