Public transport bosses say that they have had a bumper TT.

Isle of Man Transport carried a total of 234,418 passengers on the buses - up 11% from 211,450 last year.

A UK-registration blue single decker was brought over on loan from Mercedes over the TT period, to help out with the busy race festival fortnight. It has now gone back across.

Passenger figures across the heritage railways were all up on last year during the TT fortnight with a combined 52,617 journeys taken on the Manx Electric Railway, Snaefell Mountain Railway, Douglas Bay Horse Trams and Steam Railway.

The MER’s TT passenger numbers were up 34% from 14,096 to 18,939 and the SMR was up 61% from 10,191 to 16,454.

Passengers on the horse trams increased from 7,202 to 8,739 (up 21%) and those on the Steam Railway rose from 7,980 to 8,485 (up 6%).
