One hundred and fifty Barclays staff volunteered more than 1,000 hours of their time for the BBC’s Children in Need appeal.

The volunteers helped in the call centre in Douglas for the sixth year taking calls from the public across the UK wishing to donate to Children in Need during the BBC’s appeal show.

Barclays employees also took part in a variety of fundraising activities during the week which raised £10,000 for the charity including a Pudsey bake-off, a raffle, a Pudsey picnic, fancy-dress day and organising the annual party for staff and their children on the appeal show night, which included face painting and a photo booth.

Pudsey Bear attended the party after a busy week visiting people all over the island to help with their fundraising including a number of schools, community groups and the Mayor of Dougla.

Children in Need relies on fundraisers and supporters across the UK and the Isle of Man, who donate their time and money to put on events supporting the appeal.

The money raised helps disadvantaged children and young people across the UK including charities in the Isle of Man.

Simon Scott, country head of Barclays Isle of Man, pictured with Pudsey, said: ’This is the sixth year that volunteers from Barclays in the Isle of Man have helped to take donations for Children in Need and organised fundraising events for staff to take part in.

’There is always a great atmosphere with many of the volunteers in fancy dress for the appeal night.

’Barclays is happy to offer our call centre facilities to support such a fantastic fundraising event which brings the nation together to help children across the UK and in the Isle of Man.

’Our sincere thanks to all Barclays volunteers who gave their time and to everyone who donated to our fundraising.’
