An organisation representing the island’s building trade has a new boss.
Corelli Bentham has been appointed the chief executive officer of Construction Isle of Man.
Mrs Bentham is a chartered quantity surveyor with more than 30 years’ experience working in the industry in the Isle of Man, UK, Hong Kong and China.
She was previously head of construction at University College Isle of Man (UCM).
Brian Butler, the chairman of Construction Isle of Man, said: ’Corelli is the right leader for the newly formed industry body.
’Her breadth of experience in construction both in the field and in education should help focus Construction Isle of Man in its formation and assist with the promotion and development of the industry.
’We couldn’t be more pleased to have Corelli on board as our new chief exeutive officer and witness her contribution to the inevitable success of Construction Isle of Man.’
Mrs Bentham said: Â ’I am thrilled to be joining Construction Isle of Man.
’Construction has always been at my heart and I am passionate about developing professionalism within the sector.
’This is a challenging new role. My emphasis will be on improving the image of construction and developing strong communication with government to make informed decisions.
’The formation of Construction Isle of Man will benefit both the industry and the general public by raising quality assurance and health and safety standards.
’All key construction trades and professions are represented on the board and we will work collaboratively for the benefit of the whole industry to give the construction industry the positive exposure it deserves.’
Construction Isle of Man is partly publicly funded.
It is a public-private partnership jointly funded by the Department for Enterprise’s Business Isle of Man quango for its first three years of operation.
It combines the Construction Federation, Construction Forum, Chamber of Commerce Construction sector, and Think Construction into a single point of contact for industry and the public.
