The island’s government owned and operated bus service is helping the ambulance service keep its fleet of emergency vehicles on the road for longer.

Bus Vannin has expanded capacity at its workshop.

It has installed two light commercial four post lifts from a specialist company called TotalKare in the Midlands.

This follows a restructure five years ago, which brought the maintenance of the ambulance fleet under the Isle of Man Transport umbrella.

The addition of the ’state-of-the-art’ four post lifts will help the repair and maintenance of the island’s growing fleet of emergency vehicles.

Karl Woolford, engineering manager at Bus Vannin, said: ’We were pleased to hear that TotalKare was introducing its new light commercial four post lift, which has improved the working environment considerably for the maintenance team.

’We have been using its heavy-duty mobile column lifts to service and maintain our bus fleet for some time now, so we knew the product would be up to the task.

’The comprehensive aftermarket support is also invaluable.

’We are extremely happy with the new product and the service.’

Brian Young, national accounts manager at TotalKare, based in Halesowen in the West Midlands, said: ’It has been an exciting year so far for TotalKare, launching new products that meet the evolving needs of the customer.

’I am delighted that the expansion of our range has enabled us to support Bus Vannin with its important venture maintaining the island’s ambulance fleet.’

TotalKare’s light commercial four post lift is one of the newest in the company’s ever-increasing range and part of a multi-product launch earlier this year, along with a wash bay mobile column lift and mobile/in-ground brake testers.
