The Post Office has announced important dates for over the Christmas period including when children need to send their letters to Santa.
With the impact of Covid-19 being felt more severely in the UK than in the island, posting as early as possible will avoid any disappointments on Christmas Day and therefore the last recommended posting dates have been brought forward this year.
The latest postal dates for some international parcels has been brought forward to Thursday December 3 for New Zealand, Australia, Asia, Far and Middle East, Africa, Caribbean Central and South America, USA, Canada, Cyprus, Malta, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Czech Republic, Poland, Finland and Sweden.
For parcels being sent to other destinations in Europe such as Austria, Denmark, Germany, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Ireland and Luxembourg, Isle of Man Post Office recommends these being posted by Thursday December 10.
Customers who miss their parcel delivery are advised that they can request to direct their item to one of nine convenient Island-wide locations for collection by using our online redelivery request service www.iompost.com/collections.
Isle of Man Post Office continues its link with Santa Claus and is advising all boys and girls, young and old, to make sure their letter arrives, with a first class stamp by Friday December 11, only stamped letters make it to Lapland. All letters should also include a return address, so Father Christmas knows who to send a reply to.
All the island’s postal network will operate as normal up until Christmas Eve when most Post Offices will close early. The headquarters at Braddan will close at 3pm and the Northern Delivery Office will close at 1pm.
All Post Offices will be closed from Christmas Day until December 28. Branches including the delivery offices will be open as normal on Tuesday December 29 and Wednesday December 30.
On New Year’s Eve most Post Offices will close early, Post Office Headquarters will close at 12.30pm and Northern Delivery Office will close at 1pm and will be closed January 1 and January 2 2021. As of Monday January 4, all Post Offices and delivery offices will revert to their usual opening hours.
During the festive period the DHSC has advised of the early encashment of pensions and allowances for the convenience of customers. Allowances due for payment on Friday 25th December can be collected from Friday December 18.
Allowances due for payment on Thursday 24, Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 can be collected from Wednesday December 23. Allowances due for payment on Thursday December 31 or January 1 2021 can be collected from Wednesday December 30.
