A professional training programme has welcomed nine students to its team in the island.
PwC’s Isle of Man 2019 intake comprises a mix of graduates and school leavers, recruiting eight new assurance trainees and one trainee actuary.
The group comes from a range of academic backgrounds and completed a three-week induction before starting ’hands-on’ work and beginning their studies towards professional accountancy and actuarial qualifications.
Nichola Christison, assurance director with PwC Isle of Man, said: ’It has been wonderful to meet and get to know our class of 2019 at the beginning of a journey of development and one which will enhance our already agile and adaptable workforce.
’During their time with us they will gain professional qualifications, work as a team to help boost performance and tackle business issues and complex commercial challenges.
’We are encouraged this intake will embark on a diverse career working with a variety of our clients across different industries and, of course, we will support them fully in their endeavours.’
PwC Isle of Man regularly offers opportunities for school and college leavers, undergraduates and graduate. Two students who participated in the company’s summer internship programme last year are among the 2019 intake.
Applications are now open for PwC Isle of Man’s 2020 student training programme with opportunities for assurance and actuarial roles.
Senior HR manager Samantha Pemberton said: ’At PwC Isle of Man, we place a strong emphasis on the training we offer through our local training provider and continuous professional development in a structured career path.
’Our people are an essential asset and it is hugely important to bring together individuals of all backgrounds and life experiences and embrace diverse talent, views and thinking. Not only can they benefit from island life but also gain big city experience from our portfolio of global and local clients.
’I would encourage students interested in a career with PwC to attend our Insight event hosted at our offices on January 6, 2020, which is a great opportunity to meet our people and find out more about our opportunities.’
