An organisation representing building firms has voted for members of its non-executive board.

Thirteen individuals currently working within the construction sector have been appointed to provide direction to the Construction Isle of Man.

The board is made up of representatives from a range of areas within the construction sector and will meet frequently to discuss trends and challenges faced within the industry and offer strategic input to the organisation.

Brian Butler from Bell Burton Associates has been voted as chair for an initial one-year term, Gary Proctor from Excel Group will take on the role of vice chair, and Andrew Kelly from Brew and Corkill will act as treasurer.

With the sector experiencing growth and development, Construction Isle of Man will aim to formalise arrangements in relation to health and safety and quality standards, skills development, introduce organised initiatives to further promote and develop the sector, and become a single point of contact for the public and industry.

Chair of construction Isle of Man, Brian Butler, said: ’As a board we are excited, motivated, willing and able to deliver the aims of Construction Isle of Man.

’Construction influences every aspect of the environment we learn, work and live in.

’We have big ambitions and are looking forward to promoting, improving and developing the sector.

’We are in no doubt that this will not be an easy task but believe that we have the right people in place from across the industry to be instrumental in building a sustainable, dynamic, safe and opportunity-focused industry for the future.’

The Isle of Man Construction Federation is now recruiting for a chief executive officer on a three-year term, whose primary responsibility will be to manage the operations and resources of Construction Isle of Man, develop a sector strategy to move the island’s construction sector forward, and act as a main point of contact to the board.
