A new business billing itself as the island’s ’first vegan hair and beauty salon’ is on the hunt for staff.

The people behind Suki Beauty are looking for ’ambitious and motivated people’ to come and join their team.

The salon in Nelson Street. Douglas, is set to launch on September 12.

Owners Jenna Heidstrom and Ross Angwin say it will be ’both eco-conscious and focused on mental well-being’.

After living in Dubai for the last seven years, the salon owners say they have returned to the island to create a ’botanical hub in the heart of Douglas to look and feel good, inside and out’.

Miss Heidstrom, 28, and Mr Angwin, 31, live in Saddlestone.

They have been planning the new salon since last January. Miss Heidstrom said Covid-19 meant delays but now ’we are ready to get going’.

The couple had also planned to get married this year but this has now been put on hold till next year.

Miss Heidstrom said: ’It has been amazing to work alongside talented, islandbased businesses to create our vision of a serene space filled with beautiful greenery, to give back to the community in so many ways.

’The plan is to host events and activities at Suki Beauty for people to get involved in to benefit themselves, the island and our planet.

’I am so excited to reveal Suki Beauty to the public and I look forward to our official launch date.’ She said Suki Beauty’s mission is to enhance wellness and confidence inside and out, while using vegan products that are ’kind to both ourselves and to our environment’.

Mr Angwin is a chartered accountant and worked in finance in Dubai managing the finances and companies for a large emirate family and he will be looking after the finance side of Suki Beauty.

Miss Heidstrom worked previously in marketing and management in the UAE.

A number of people have already been taken on but Miss Heidstrom said they are still keen to hear from people and she stressed that people do not necessarily have to be vegan to work there.

The business is looking for hairstylists and nail technician to become a part of the new venture in the heart of Douglas.

Leading up the launch event on September 12 staff will be in the salon for training and a ’soft launch period’ from September 1.

Miss Heidstrom said the salon is a realisation of her ’vision’ for a new business in the island.
