A firm specialising in cyber security has had to make ’significant changes’ to the way it operates in this its 10th anniversary year in the island.

Intelect Group says it has drastically changed the way it provides training, both on island and with international clients, after the Covid-19 pandemic prevented face-to-face interactions.

Since March the business has adapted by delivering more than 60 training webinars to countries as far afield as Malta, Cyprus and Oman, with a session planned for Gibraltar soon.

Colin Tansley, director and founder of Intelect, told Business News: ’In recent months, we have had to make some significant changes to our business model to maintain a service to our existing client base, but we also spotted an opportunity to expand our reach.

’I’m delighted to say it has worked really well; feedback from course delegates has been exceptional and replicating the classroom experience online has been successful too.’

Mr Tansley said: ’I am a firm believer in partnerships and our network is formed of small business owners who share a common goal, that being to help businesses prosper and do so in a more secure, safe way.’

The Victoria Street, Douglas, based company provides advice on cyber security, due diligence and training services. Former police officer Mr Tansley has attended seminars and events in the island in recent years to press home cyber security messages.

Last year he told an audience of business people at the Cyberisle gathering at the Villa Marina: ’My background is in policing investigations and I spent years chasing criminals. But there are many ways you can be attacked from a cyber point of view.

’As an investigator I now spend a lot of my time on online investigations.’

Mr Tansley said the last decade had seen his company grow. It began with him working from a small desk at home and now provides a wide range of compliance, security and training work designed to help safeguard businesses.
