The deputy airport director has stepped down.

Isle of Man Airport has said the recruitment process to find someone new to take up the role will take place ‘in due course’.

Jeremy Spake started the job in 2018, taking over from then-Ronaldsway operations manager Paul Clarkson, who is currently the interim airport director.

Mr Spake managed the day-to-day operation of the airport, controlling the revenue and capital budgets, and producing the annual business plan.

A spokesperson from Isle of Man Airport said: ‘We’d like to take the opportunity to thank Jeremy for his hard work and diligence, and wish him well for the future.

‘A recruitment process will take place in due course.’

Mr Spake found fame prior to moving to the Isle of Man when he appeared in the reality TV show Airport in the late 1990s.

The show provided a behind the scenes look at Heathrow when Mr Spake was, at that time, the ground services manager for Russian state airline Aeroflot.

Since then, he has written two books and presented and appeared in a series of shows for television.
