The police are saying that while more business will open from Monday, they advise resisting the urge to make a dash for the shops.
Instead they recommend people go later in the week, to ensure that social distancing can be maintained.
A police statement said: ’Aim to shop alone and limit the time you spend in shops to buy only what you need.
’Stay safe and try to limit shopping trips to 15 minutes per shop to avoid prolonged contact with others.
’Businesses are likely to have queuing and/or one-way systems in place – be patient, respect staff, and follow their guidance.
’If the queue is too big or you judge that you will not be able to maintain sufficient distance (2m) from other shoppers and pedestrians, come back at another time when it is quieter – this is particularly relevant for high-streets.
’Minimise time spent in shopping areas and browsing in shops – only shop for things you need.
’Only touch/handle items in shops that you are planning to buy.
’Social distancing remains in place – this means some retail outlets may not be able to offer their normal services for the time being.’
