There are 11 new faces at accountancy firm PwC Isle of Man.
This is one of the firm’s largest intakes in recent years.
The new recruits include two school leavers studying to be certified accountants, and seven graduates studying to be chartered accountants, who have joined the assurance team.
Meanwhile, the firm’s in-house actuarial team has been strengthened with the addition of two graduates studying towards their Institute and Faculty of Actuaries qualifications.
The students - Katy Myers, Camille Wilson, Patrick Fraser, Eleanor Kelly, Sam Mitchell, Rachel Hopkinson, Kunal Patel, Charlotte Dougherty, Verity Almond, Kevin Kelly and Adam McAuley - are undergoing an induction period before starting ’hands-on’ work and studying towards accountancy and actuarial qualifications.
Ian Clague, senior partner at PwC Isle of Man, said: ’One of our primary aims is to retain talent in the Isle of Man.
’As well as returning graduates we employ school and college leavers as we are keen to help develop the island’s next generation. The new recruits are a mix of both with diverse backgrounds and qualifications, including biology, psychology and biomedical sciences.
’Our people are an essential asset to the business and we want to attract and motivate our people by being a progressive employer.
’Developing an agile and adaptable workforce with a global mindset ensures we meet with confidence, the current and future needs of our clients across all markets.’
Senior human resources manager Samantha Pemberton explained: ’PwC Isle of Man’s training programme provides the opportunity to attract and train the best talent while supporting the students to develop their careers in the island, in addition to identifying and enhancing their skills.
’Nine of the 11 are local, and three joined our summer internship before going on to join the programme, which is particularly pleasing.’
Recruitment for PwC Isle of Man’s 2018 professional training programme is open now, with opportunities for school leavers, graduates and experienced professionals, as well as summer internships.
