The island’s financial regulator has issued a warning about a fake investment company.

It says anyone who has had dealings with Jamie Phillip Azzopardy and a company called Pardi FX may have become a fraud victim.

The Financial Services Authority said it was aware of correspondence sent out offering investment opportunities and requesting upfront payments.

It was apparently sent by a Jamie Phillip Azzopardy claiming to be an investment manager and trader of Forex, Stocks and Crypto Investment and stating to have links to Pardi FX.

The documents gave the address of 31 James Street, Douglas, which does not exist. There is no company incorporated in the Isle of Man under the name of Pardi FX.

The FSA said it had failed to establish any association between Azzopardy and any genuine Isle of Man companies or businesses.

It said: ’Under the circumstances, the authority is concerned that any person who has had dealings with Jamie Phillip Azzopardy and/or Pardi FX may potentially become the victim of fraud or it may be an attempt at gaining personal data from the recipient in order to steal their identity.’

The FSA said the documents had used without permission a full-page watermark depicting the regulator’s corporate logo in an apparent attempt to give some legitimacy.
