Daisy the Beagle may be a bit wet behind the ears, but she knows where to go to get a nice wash and brush-up!

Thanks to a donation from Manx Telecom’s It’s Our Community scheme, Daisy and other canine guests at ManxSPCA’s kennels at Ard Jerkyll can now enjoy a bath or shower in a shiny new dog bath.

Juana Warburton, ManxSPCA general manager, said: ‘The dog bath we purchased with our Manx Telecom It’s Our Community grant is specially designed so that large dogs can get in and out of it safely.

‘The ManxSPCA rescues and rehomes more than 100 dogs every year, and most of them need a bath from time to time to wash off grease and mud.

‘Some dogs also have skin conditions which means that they have to have regular baths with medicated shampoo.

‘The new dog bath helps to make bath time stress-free and fun.’

Last year ManxSPCA was one of 19 organisations that received Manx Telecom It’s Our Community grants – and there’s still time for community groups to apply for grants in the 2018 scheme.

The annual scheme is open to Isle of Man charities, sports clubs, schools, voluntary or community groups.

Grants ranging from £100 to £1,000 are awarded for a wide range of purposes each judged by a panel on a case by case basis.

Applications can be made at www.manxtelecom.com/itsourcommunity just by filling in a simple online form explaining what your group does, and what you want the money for.

If you need a printed application form, telephone Marg McGee, marketing executive at Manx Telecom, on 636030.

The entry deadline is midnight on September 30.
