A new marketing manager has joined online travel marketplace, TransferTravel.com, as part of its continuing recruitment drive to support business growth.

Jennie McLean says the opportunity to join the rapidly growing business was just ‘too exciting to turn down.’

She is now keen to find ways to help spread the word about its mission to be the number one travel marketplace.

The company, which celebrates its second anniversary this month, claims it is leading a revolution in the travel industry by challenging established methods of buying flights, hotel, package holidays, cruises and much more.

Jennie said: ‘TransferTravel.com is a great place to work because it offers a dynamic yet supportive environment where everyone is encouraged to get involved.

‘Of course, there’s a big work ethic, but there’s also an altruistic aspect to the company because everyone here is focused on helping our customers turn a negative situation into a positive one.’

TransferTravel.com works by providing a marketplace for anyone to buy or sell unwanted travel bookings – so someone who has booked a holiday, but can’t take it because of unforeseen circumstances, can use the website to turn bad news into good by recouping some of the money they paid, and provide another traveller with a great last minute deal.

Jennie, who is a keen runner, added: ‘TransferTravel.com is unique in my experience.

‘I’ve never started work somewhere that allows you to be yourself from day one. Everyone here has been really open and accommodating.

‘The ethos of the company is to recruit people with passion and personality.

‘We want those who are dedicated and can really get behind the company’s values, but more importantly it’s a place where people have the chance to grow and learn new skills.

‘Ultimately though, we’re all here to find ways to give our customers more opportunity and better value for money.’

Jennie, 28, grew up in the island and is a former Ramsey Grammar School pupil.

She gained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Newcastle University, and her passion for travel began when she studied at the University of Idaho in 2011 after being awarded the Ella Olesen Scholarship by the Isle of Man Department of Education and Children.

TransferTravel.com, which has its HQ at Hill Street, Douglas, employs nine people in the island, one in London and one in San Francisco. It is growing rapidly and has big plans for expansion globally, especially in the USA where there is said to be huge potential with millions of dollars of unused travel bookings every year.

Jennie has a tip for anyone looking to become part of the team: ‘Get ready to get stuck in. This company is moving fast and is going to make a global impact on the travel industry.’
