A landmark pub in the north of the island could be yours as the owners seek a new tenant or a buyer.

The current tenants of the Glen Mona Hotel are leaving the island and this has prompted owners Paul and Jackie Corteen seek expressions of interest.

Placed on the market with estate agents Cowley Groves, the pub is valued at £495,000.

Since taking over the pub a few years ago, Paul and Jackie, who live in Maughold, have overseen renovations and changes which include a new kitchen, the creation of bedroom suites and a campsite which further cemented the pub’s popularity with visiting bikers.

Specialising in home-made food including its famous long boat Sunday roasts, the pub is located on the main road from Ramsey to Laxey.

In the listing on its website, Cowley Groves said: ’The property offers 3 en-suite bedrooms available to let, an attractive main bar, lounge, function room/restaurant, pool room and secondary bar area. Well equipped and newly fitted commercial catering kitchen with extensive ancillary facilities.

’The main bar area with an attractive and impressive room with high level ceilings, open fireplace with inset wood burning stove, part-wood panelled walls, impressive polished topped bar/serving area with a range of associated back fittings, comfortable seating area with various sofas, games/pool room with a darts board and pool table.’

’Externally, the property offers extensive parking for approximately 50 vehicles, trade gardens and patio areas providing al fresco seating, smokers shelter and various useful outbuildings and stores.

Paul told the Examiner: ’The current tenants are leaving the island and we thought we’d seek expressions of interest, we’re certainly not desperate to sell.

’With the renovations, meeting room and the holiday accommodation, including the TT campsite, we’re really optimistic for the future of the pub whether that is with us or not.’

The pub is still open for food and drinks, with its Facebook page providing details of its opening hours and during MGP fortnight, it is open for food and drink every day.
