A popular Port St Mary eatery will cease trading at the end of this week.
The Fish House has built up a large loyal fanbase since it opened in TT 2014 but the original five-year lease is about to expire.
And owner, manager, chef and front-of-house Paddy Croft says he wants to wind down a little from the regular 10-hour shifts.
A typical day for him starts as early as 5am prepping at the factory or meeting the latest catches for processing.
By the time they’ve cleaned up for the next day and dropped produce back to storage, he is lucky if he has time to himself and his family.
There are the Fish Frydays, the legendary platters and Xmas Pre-orders that were generated on a huge scale.
The Fish House has featured at numerous private functions and outside catering events such as Cyclefest and Bushy’s TT Village throughout the years that have also kept Paddy busier than perhaps he would like.
Paddy said: ’Sadly it’s true, after some five years taking central place in the village the Fish House will be closing its doors on August 24. It’s been a great five years.’
The Fish House has undoubtedly been an important community asset to Port St Mary village and the south with its informal, relaxed and friendly vibe and welcome.
Customers come from all over the island to sample the varied menus, shellfish seasons, home-baked and home-smoked products.
Paddy thanked all his customers, his partner Paula, the patient baking supremo - and all the staff that have been involved so enthusiastically over the years.
He paid particular thanks to Mateusz for his inspired cooking and preparation, Zoe and Harry for providing a professional and friendly front-of-house, and landlord Denny Gelling and wife Cin for their continued support.
Whilst The Fish House will cease trading as of 3pm on Saturday (August 24), the current assets are remaining in situ for a short period.
