Manx Gas boss Ian Plenderleith has left the company, the Manx Independent can reveal.
Sources have indicated to the Manx Independent that Mr Plenderleith is ’no longer with the company’.
And his successor has already been appointed, it is understood.
The circumstances for his departure from International Energy Group (IEG) - Manx Gas’s parent company- are unclear.
Speculation started to mount yesterday (Wednesday) after a post appeared on social media which apparently indicated that Mr Plenderleith was looking for another position.
He was based at Manx Gas’s office in Murdoch House on South Quay, Douglas.
His personal LinkedIn account carried this message: ’Dynamic CEO with extensive experience in the utilities sector in the UK and multiple international markets. Immediately available for roles in the UK, Guernsey, Jersey, the Isle of Man and international locations.’
Mr Plenderleith had been based in the island for more than two years with regular trips to Jersey and Guernsey.
In the Courier last week we reported that Manx Gas would be given notice at the end of this month to end its controversial regulatory deal with the government.
The move came following a motion tabled by ousted minister Chris Thomas.
We were unable to reach Mr Plenderleith before we went to press.
