Manx Telecom’s total revenues dropped 1.8% in a year, the company’s interim results show.
The company’s results for the year ending December 2017 show a mixed picture.
Fixed, broadband and data revenue fell 2.9% and data centre revenue declined by 32.3%.
Mobile revenue rose by 3.6%, while ’global solutions’ jumped 12.9%
A category ’other’ dropped 14%.
Net assets fell from £86,182,000 to £81,087,000.
A press release from the communications company describes its performance as strong.
Chief executive Gary Lamb said: ’I am very pleased to report a solid performance for 2017.
’The dedication and hard work of our people has been outstanding and is the reason we have delivered a great result in a period of significant change during our transformation programme.
’The company is well positioned to maintain its core position on the Isle of Man through high-quality customer service, and to continue exploring new market opportunities. We remain positive in the outlook for the Group.’
Manx Telecom says its highlights over the year included:
The core business, including Fixed Line, Broadband, and Data services, continues to perform solidly, with a good uptake of high-speed broadband
The roll-out of the fibre to the premises (’FTTP’) programme, providing ultrafast fibre broadband to selected areas of the Isle of Man, has begun
Vannin Ventures, the Manx Telecom-owned business incubator, which identifies new opportunities in the telecommunications and technology sector, made good progress.
It successfully integrated Partitionware, an Isle of Man software developer specialising in telecommunication platforms, following the acquisition in December 2016, and during 2017 also acquired a majority stake in Goshawk Communications, a company that develops and exploits technology-based solutions that enhance audio quality and provides innovative technology for those with hearing loss.
Both Partitionware and Goshawk offer exciting growth potential in the medium term
Progress in the Global Solutions business continued, with growth across most of the product portfolio, particularly in M2M (Machine-to-Machine) and international traveller propositions
The ’transformation programme’ progressed well during the year, with the introduction of new IT systems supporting improvements in processes and organisational structure
The data centre business, which offers co-location, managed hosting, cloud and disaster recovery services to an international and local corporate client base, saw a return to growth in the latter half of the year/
