The Villa Marina in Douglas will once again transform into an international hub of business-focused festivities as the Island hosts ISLEXPO 2017 on May 24 and 25.
Organisers are keen to stress this is ’not your average business conference.’
ISLEXPO is said to be both a meeting of minds and a celebration of the island’s diverse business community.
This two-day event is hosted by the Department of Economic Development and features world-renowned speakers, interactive workshops, VIP networking events, a start-up pitching contest, local artisanal food and drink, live music, and more.
A spokesman said: ’Think Dragon’s Den meets Ted Talks backstage at Glastonbury!’
The event is free and online registration is live at www.islexpo.com. Entrepreneurs, business professionals, corporate managers, students, residents, individuals looking to relocate to the Island, partners, friends, and those simply curious to see what this is all about, are welcome to attend.
Last year’s ISLEXPO kickstarted the island’s Start, Grow, Relocate campaign with an energetic exploration of what it takes to successfully start a business. This year moves one step forward into the growth phase, as the event delves into Inspiring Growth at Every Level.
The programme has been curated with a diverse audience in mind. There will be something for everyone during two days of speakers, workshops, panel discussions, networking events, and more. Popping in and out as schedules permit is welcome.
Day one (Wednesday, May 24) will be a celebration of all things entrepreneurial with speakers and Google Digital Lab workshops focused on successfully launching and growing a new business. Pitch It, the popular entrepreneur pitching contest, will also take place on Wednesday. The day will conclude with a showcase of artisan street food from local foodie entrepreneurs, with a bar and live music after 5pm.
Day two (Thursday, May 25) will broaden the conversation as global speakers and panels featuring local business experts share unique insights and success stories. Workshops and business mentoring for entrepreneurs will also feature.
The event will come to a close on Thursday evening with a glittering gala dinner.
The ISLEXPO programme can be found at www.islexpo.com.
Registration is free and spaces for workshops are limited.
