With the collapse of the Thomas Cook Group, the Office of Fair Trading has issued advice.

Thomas Cook’s Douglas branch did not open this week.

A spokesman said: ’This is an evolving situation but the OFT would offer the following basic advice to customers of Thomas Cook.

’If you have paid by credit card or debit card then, depending on your particular circumstances, you may be entitled to a refund - guidance on this can be found at: http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/advice/how-do-i-use-chargeback#chargeback-vs-section-75 - make contact with your card provider as soon as possible

’Check your travel insurance - make contact with your provider as soon as possible so that you know exactly what your policy covers

’Extensive advice and updates can be found on both the Civil Aviation Authority (https://thomascook.caa.co.uk/) and Which? (https://www.which.co.uk) websites.

’If you do not have access to a computer or require further advice please do not hesitate to contact the OFT’s consumer advice centre on 686500.’
