The island’s rate of inflation is unchanged.
Figures released today show the rate for August is 0.1%, which is the same as the month before.
The Consumer Prices Index shows a number of changes.
Clothing is 11.8% cheaper than a year ago, oil and heating fuels has dropped 36.8%, while petrol and oil are down 15.1%
The factors pushing inflation up include subscriptions to the internet, which rose 13.7%, postage which jumped 8.85, rent up 4.4% and pork, which was 11.4% more expensive.
Delving into the figures more shows some perhaps surprising results.
For example, window cleaning is now 11.5% cheaper than a year ago. Men’s outerwear was 18.9% cheaper, while children’s outerwear dropped by only 1.5%.
The Consumer Prices Index dropped into deflation in June - meaning that, on average, the cost of living dropped.
A different measure of inflation, the Retail Prices Index, which is used to calculate state pension rises, showed a 3.8% jump - up from 2.7% the month before.
