Douglas law firm Simcocks has sponsored an initiative aimed at encouraging students with an interest in a career in law.

’Partnership with Schools’ is a competition open to A-level students who are studying the subject or International Baccalaureate students who are interested in law.

Students were invited to write an essay on a choice of topics, and the winning essay was written by Reuben Harris, a pupil at Castle Rushen High School.

Reuben will receive a placement at Simcocks to gain hands-on experience working in a law firm and a paid summer placement at the firm.

Director of Simcocks Chris Arrowsmith presented Reuben with a voucher to buy a new laptop for his studies.

Mr Arrowsmith said: ’I was so impressed with the high standard of entries and it was really difficult to choose a winner, but Reuben’s essay was persuasive, thoughtful and mature.

’I look forward to welcoming him in the summer, and to running this competition again.’
