A series of talks is to be held this winter at a business centre near Ramsey.

Mountain View Innovation Centre’s Tech Talks will take place every month.

AFD Group managing director David Dorricott said: ’Following our success with our free "Tech Talks" last winter, we’re delighted to launch another series of high-quality, relevant sessions for the coming few months.

’Once again we hope they will help nurture innovation and enterprise, especially in the north of the Isle of Man - though of course anyone is welcome.’

The 2020/21 series of talks launches on Thursday, September 17, covering the topic of Free Green Energy? - the Mountain View Solar Journey.

In last week’s Examiner we reported about the centre’s solar panel array.

Martin Coyle from Manx Solar Electrical will be joining Mr Dorricott and Jonathan Sutherland, group properties manager to share their experiences in delivering and operating the Isle of Man’s largest solar electricity installation - which has already generated over £26,000 of ’free’ energy.

The talk, which is due to start at 6.45pm and runs for about an hour, will cover all aspects of the project from conception, the cost effectiveness of the investment, how the technology works, installation and maintenance and also tips, tricks and practicalities of navigating Manx Utilities Authority tariffs.

There will be an opportunity for audience questions and answers.

Lindsey Corkill, events, venues and tenancies manager at Mountain View, said: ’We have a really exciting and varied line up of speakers coming up this winter.

’October sees Bransom Bean, a local executive and leadership coach deliver "How to do a Cash Flow Forecast for a Start Up" followed in November by Carol Glover, "The Maverick Maker", bringing her vast business experience and "out of the box" mindset to our November talk, "Dare to be Different - how to disrupt, innovate and think differently to win".
