David Stacey has been a ’tower of strength’ with an island insurance company.
Mr Stacey, chairman of Tower Insurance, received a special gift to mark 55 years of continuous service to the RSA group of companies.
The remarkable achievement was marked in a ceremony at Tower’s base in Victoria Street, Douglas.
Mr Stacey, a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, remains very active in the business world, holding a number of non-executive directorships as well as a number of charity positions, including Friends of the Gaiety Theatre, Isle of Man Sports Aid Foundation and Cruse Bereavement.

Outside of his professional activities, he is an active member of Rowany Golf Club, where he holds the position of chairman, a keen tennis player and in the past has run the London Marathon, the Great North Run and completed the Parish Walk three times.
He said: ’I am very proud to have worked for such a prestigious company as RSA (previous Royal Insurance).
’My time in both the UK and with Tower Insurance in the island have been memorable and I have and continue to work with some great people who drive to forge the great reputation the group and company has. I am particularly proud to continue with Tower Insurance in my current role.
’In a world that is being driven more and more by technology, sometimes having a friendly local voice on the end of the phone and a local office, ensures our customers and brokers needs are addressed quickly and efficiently.
’I know the current staff echo this sentiment.’
Emmet McQuillan, current managing director, said: ’David has been a stalwart of the RSA Group for an amazing 55 years and continues to keep going.
’His knowledge and drive is ever present as is his willingness to help facilitate the continued success of Tower Insurance.’
Mr Stacey received a commemorative ’Fire Plate’ from Mr McQuillan.He was presented his award with the current Tower staff at a presentation in their offices, where existing staff members were also awarded for exam success and long service.
