Holiday giant Thomas cook has confirmed the closure of its currency exchange service in the island from next Friday.

The travel agent has had a turbulent time recently which has seen its airline business put up for sale.

A company spokesman told Business News: ‘As part of our ongoing programme to drive greater efficiencies across the UK business, trading of foreign exchange and related financial services products will cease at the Douglas, Isle of Man store from Friday, June 21.

‘Our customers will still be able to order travel money online for home delivery and visit the store to book their holidays.’ The island store is in Strand Street, Douglas.
