Ramsey native and TT star Conor Cummins is continuing to build his business empire with the announcement of his new eatery.

The racer has added a pizzeria to his business portfolio, which already includes a coffee shop, a coffee van and hot drinks machines in the island.

Conrod’s Pizzeria will, from April 1, take over the Boathouse Cafe at Mooragh Park after Mr Cummins agreed a seven-year deal with Ramsey Commissioners.

This will see the existing Boathouse Café converted to provide seating for 42 customers.

Mr Cummins said: ’We are excited to open our new Conrod’s Pizzeria at the boat house.

’It’s an iconic location with lots of heritage and as Ramsey is my home town and I’m keen to build my business here.

relationship

’Working closely with Ramsey Town Commissioners and Mansail has made the process very smooth and we look forward to developing the relationship with both parties.

’The building is well under way, working with local businesses and we aim to be open ready for the season.

’We hope you all enjoy our pizzeria and look forward to welcoming you soon.’

Mansail, which operates the Mooragh Lake and games concession, has also had its contract renewed. The new contract is also for seven years.

Mansail had until this year also operated the Boathouse Cafe as part of its lease for the Mooragh Lake.

The chairman of Ramsey Commissioners, Andy Cowie, said the local authority was very pleased with the outcome of its tender process.

Mr Cowie added: ’We welcome a new partner, Conrod’s Pizzeria, to the Mooragh Park and look forward to the transformation of the Boathouse café.

’A new Pizzeria will be popular with existing users of the Park and we hope that it will also attract new visitors to enjoy the Mooragh during the extended opening hours. The addition of Conrod’s will complement the service available from the already popular Costa Coffee which operates at the Lakeside Centre.

’Mansail has successfully operated the Mooragh Lake and games concession for many years and we look forward continuing to work closely with the team and their clients for the benefit of the town.’

Dave Reed from Mansail said: ’We are pleased to continue our relationship with Ramsey Town Commissioners and excited about the new café pizzeria development.

’We acknowledge and thank Sue our previous café manager for her hard work, personable approach and dedication for the last 10 years. We wish her well for the future and look forward to developing a similar working relationship with Conrods.’

Mr Cummins, who has recorded several podium finishes in the TT races, also runs Conrod’s coffee shop on Parliament Street in Ramsey.
