The number of people registered as unemployed has fallen for the sixth straight month.

At the end of October, 797 people were registered as unemployed, a decrease on 88 from the previous month.

The unemployment rate for October 2020 is 1.9%, down from 2.1% in September 2020.

Unemployment reached a 20 year plus high in April when it reached 1,347, but this has steadily fallen each month since.

However, the Job Centre is also reporting a decrease in the number of vacancies being received, which has fallen every month since February.

The International Labour Organisation estimates that 1,242 individuals were unemployed and looking for work in October 2020, compared with 1,480 in September 2020. This amounts to an unemployment rate of 2.9%.
