The surprise resignation of commissioner Eric Corkish means that a by-election will shortly be announced in Ramsey.
Mr Corkish, who was elected to the board two years ago, tendered his resignation with immediate effect prior to the authority’s annual general meeting, which he did not attend.
He did not give any reason for standing down, although he did comment on social media.
His departure leaves a vacant seat, with two years still to run.
Colleagues re-elected Andy Cowie as chairman for the coming year, with Luke Parker continuing as deputy.
There were a number of changes among the line-up of lead members: while Juan McGuinness continues as lead member for finance, Ffinlo Williams becomes lead member for works and development, Julia Wedgwood takes on housing and property and Michelle Quayle takes over parks and leisure. Mrs Wedgwood will also serve on the Housing Advisory Committee, Ramsey and Northern Districts Housing Committee and the Northern Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Other appointments were: housing committee - Alby Oldham and Luke Parker; Manx Wildlife Trust - Michelle Quayle and Alby Oldham; Ramsey Chamber of Commerce - Juan McGuinness; Northern Traffic Management Liaison Committee - Wilf Young; Municipal Association - Andy Cowie and Ffinlo Williams; Northern Civic Amenity Site Committee - Alby Oldham; Northern Local Authorities Swimming Pool Board - Juan McGuinness; Ramsey Regeneration Committee - Michelle Quayle and Alby Oldham.
Chairman Mr Cowie said he looked forward to another successful year for the town.
