Manx Wild Bird Aid has said a Canada Goose has died in Ramsey following reports of a dog attack.

The charity said the bird was ’left to suffer’ after the attack but that it had died by the time its team got to it.

It added: ’Please keep your dogs on leads around waterfowl, you may think your dog just wants to play but the birds are terrified, and even a little nip can cause infection and a slow, painful death for the bird days later.

’If your dog does manage to get hold of a bird, please do not just leave the bird, even if it seems okay initially. Contain the bird and take them to a vet or contact us for help.’
