Peel will be bouncing to the sound of authentic Canadian roots and bluegrass music later this month, with the arrival of Gordie McKeeman and his Rhythm Boys.

The country and rockabilly group will be performing at the Peel Centenary Centre on Saturday, June 22, from 8pm.

The focus of the group is the frenetic fiddler Gordie McKeeman.

Known as ’crazy legs’ for his on-stage antics, flying feet and eye-catching dance moves, Gordie and his band have just released their latest album, ’Dreamland’, and are currently in the middle of a hectic touring schedule that will take them across the world.

The Rhythm Boys are described as a multi-talented group of musical ’Swiss army knives’ for their ability to pick up any number of instruments on stage.

These include guitarist and singer Peter Cann, Thomas Webb who plays the upright bass, pedal steel guitar and banjo and percussionist, drummer and bass player Jason Burbine.

They all back up the fiddle-fuelled frenzied sound of Gordie, and together they recreate the sounds of old-time Americana.

Their previous releases include 2013’s Pickin’ and Click’*, Laugh, Dance and Sing in 2015 and their self-titled debut, released in 2010.

Tickets are priced at £18, and are available from Celtic Gold, in Peel, Shakti Mann, in Ramsey, Thompson Travel in Port Erin and online from centenarycentre.com
