The island’s largest car dealership is making a donation to the childen’s hospice for every car it sells.

This year marks 15 years of Rebecca House providing hospice care to children.

In the lead up to the anniversary in November, Jacksons Group, based on the outskirts of Douglas, is supporting the charity by making a donation for every vehicle they sell from February 2022 onwards.

Every car, van and motorcycle sold by Jacksons and Motor Mall will result in a donation being made by Jacksons Group which, the company says, will be worth more than £50,000 a year.

Jacksons will be suggesting that customers donate money to the children’s hospice too.

The operations director of the Jacksons Group, Paul Kell, said: ’I was recently invited to visit Hospice Isle of Man by chief executive Anne Mills.

’Until I met Anne, I had never fully understood just how much funding was required, year on year, to maintain the astonishing levels of care they provide, in often the most challenging circumstances for local families. The work they do, and the dedication of the amazing team, is truly exceptional and deeply humbling.

’Rather than a one-off donation, we wanted to do something that was sustainable, to help in their annual challenge to raise the significant funds to maintain their essential service.

’So, we have committed to a donation from every car we sell at Jacksons and Motor Mall from February 2022 onwards.

’We will also be inviting our wonderful customers to match our donation and will be promoting the work of the hospice in various other ways.

’As an organisation that only works in island communities, we fully appreciate the importance of supporting, and investing in, our local community, and it is obvious just how important an organisation like Hospice Isle of Man is to our island home and its people.’

Anne Mills said: ’Rebecca House provides a home from home environment for all our children and their families.

’Over the last 15 years, we have truly seen the impact that Rebecca House has made on the lives of the children and families, whether that is through end-of-life care or providing respite care when it is needed most.

’As a charity we must raise significant funds each and every year, in excess of £5 million, to ensure that we can continue to support children and their families when they need it most.

’I am so very grateful that Jacksons Group have chosen to support us through this wonderful long term partnership, as this helps ensure that we can maintain our services and help our patients live well, their way, until the end of their life.

’Recent years have brought many challenges, and the pandemic has particularly highlighted the need for the highest quality clinical care for all.

’Now more than ever we need support from everyone and this, very significant, commitment from Jackson’s Group is most welcome.

’Alongside the financial support, we are also looking forward to hosting Jackson’s Group staff at sessions at the hospice to show them what we do and why it is important.

’Once they have seen it for themselves they will be able to know the real difference they are making to hospice care each and every day.’
