An inquest was opened yesterday (Monday) into the death of a seven-year-old girl, Sophie Isabella Moolman, from Douglas.

Sophie had a recent history of scarlet fever and then later became poorly with a virus, the inquest heard.

She died on March 29 at Noble’s Hospital.

Coroner of inquests John Needham said that the cause of death was ’yet to be established’, as medical investigations are still continuing.

He passed on his sincere condolences to family members before adjourning proceedings to a date to be fixed.
