Niamh Murdoch is 18 years old and from Ramsey, who has just finished studying her A Levels.

A huge fan of film, television and theatre, Niamh has played the role of ’Missis Pongo’ in Parker & Snell’s 101 Dalmatians, worked on four feature length films, came runner up in the 2016 Young Actor of Man, and won the Island Life section of Young Photographer 2014.

She has volunteered for charities such as the Great Laxey Mine Railway, ran a youth club every week in Ramsey and trained to be a befriender for the Northern Live at Home Scheme.

She is one of 12 finalists in the Miss Isle of Man Community Challenge, and is raising money for Age Concern.

What is your idea of a perfect meal?

Marmite sandwiches or spaghetti hoops on toast, with bacon.

What is your favourite way to relax?

Cuddling up in my pyjamas under a blanket, with a stack of dvds to watch on one side of me and a mound of chocolate and popcorn on the other.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Warm salted caramel brownies. Sheer luxury!

Do you have any pets?

I have a gorgeous little black cat called Layla, who acts and is treated like a princess.

What is your greatest achievement?

Producing and hosting my first ever show.

What is your favourite time of the year?

Winter. I love the cold, crisp feeling you get as you are out walking. It also means Christmas, and my birthday is two days after.

What is the first job you ever had?

I made and sold mini donuts.

Do you have any irrational fears?

I used to be terrified of spiders but my friend Sue taught me to push through the fear.

What is your worst habit?

Chewing my nails when I get really nervous.

What is your favourite book?

Peter Pan, as it was the first book I ever managed to properly read. My old English teacher lent me the book knowing that, despite loving reading, I avoided it due to my dyslexia. I didn’t manage to finish reading it till the day of his funeral and have promised to keep reading ever since.

What is your favourite TV programme?

It would have to be either Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Pride and Prejudice.

What is your favourite band/artist at the moment?

My favourite songs are generally from musicals or soundtracks to films.

What is your favourite part of the Isle of Man?

The beaches. I adore being able to walk along them, not seeing a single person and yet look out to sea and know that someone, somewhere is looking back.

What is the last show/band that you saw live?

I recently watched The Producers from the wings of the Gaiety, while working as part of the stage crew.

If time/money were no object, what would be your perfect day?

It would be New Year’s eve and would start the day with breakfast by the Eiffel Tower, spend the day in Disneyland, fly to London for an evening show on the West End, go to ’Winter Wonderland’ in Hyde Park before welcoming in the New Year with the fireworks by the London Eye.
