The Children’s Centre’s ’Race the Sun’ event raised £23,000 for the charity.

May’s event saw a record breaking 39 teams taking part in the event.

This was the 12th year the challenge had been organised by the charity. Last year’s was cancelled because of the pandemic.

This week the charity finished counting the amount of money raised. It was a record. They money will help to fund the charity’s work with children, young people and families.

The relay running race saw the teams start at sunrise, and finishing before sunset, covering the 100 miles of Raad ny Foillan, the island’s coastal footpath.

Organiser Jane Howland said: ’We were beyond delighted with the event this year. I would like to thank the sponsors, volunteers, marshals and competitors. A special thank you to the teams for the phenomenal amount raised and a well done to the winning team - Boston MFO, and to Amber Gaming for finishing closest to sunset.’
