A charity golf day has raised £15,000 in aid of The Children’s Centre.

Held at Castletown Golf Club in May, Microgaming’s fourth annual charity golf day saw 21 teams from local businesses go head to head to raise money for The Children’s Centre.

Chicks with Sticks, consisting of Bronwen Raatgever, Jane Holt, Tami James and Stephanie Green, came out on top with 107 points, closely followed by Coutts, who took second place with 106 points, and Newfield with 105 points in third.

Anyone who got a hole in one would have got a Mini Cooper prize. But nobody achieved it.

A BMW ’Car for the Weekend’ was also up for grabs, thanks to Jacksons Isle of Man.

That prize went to Daryl Callister for the longest drive, in addition to James Bareham and Roger Raatgever, who took the nearest pin titles on the 8th and 13th holes respectively.

This year also introduced a best dressed category, which went to Team Holy Moly (BGO), who swapped their traditional golf apparel for fancy dress to match their team name.

Other teams that took part were KPMG, SMP, Black Grace Cowley, BGO, Continent8, Barclays, Sure, Odysseus Insurance, Pay Genie Consulting, Robinson’s, Purple Pitches, MGS Rookies, Knox Capital Solutions, Plan.com, Simcocks, and MAC Financial.

In addition, a team of Microgaming PlayItForward volunteers and staff from The Children’s Centre helped on the day and helped with the event set-up, handed out goody bags and presented prizes to the winners.

A raffle and silent auction were also held with prizes donated by Regency Hotel, Will Halsall from Your Personal Wine Service, Foraging Vintners, Athol Car Hire, Coast, Speedy Park and Mannin Hotel. To end the evening, a competitive round of charity poker was hosted by Microgaming, with prizes donated by the company.

With Microgaming backing event costs, a record total of £15,000 was raised for The Children’s Centre at this year’s event.

Mary Doyle, fundraising and communications manager at The Children’s Centre, said: ’We are very grateful to Microgaming for organising another fantastic PlayItForward charity golf day and raising an incredible amount of £15,000.

’These funds will be used to continue to provide the charitable services for children, young people and their families with additional needs on the Isle of Man.

These are delivered through a wide range of individual tailored measures, allowing them to deal with whatever those needs are with the correct support. We know we can help these families and this huge donation will have such a positive impact on their future, hopefully making it brighter.’

Kate Moughtin, senior internal brand manager at Microgaming, said: ’This now marks our fourth year organising the PlayItForward Charity Golf Day and it has been another successful event with a record amount raised for an amazing local charity

’ The Children’s Centre play a vital role in our community and we look forward to seeing the charity continue to provide dedicated services on the island with this donation.

’Thank you to all the teams who took part, the local companies that donated prizes and sponsored holes, and to our PlayItForward volunteers who helped to make this day a huge success.’
