Junior Achievement Isle of Man is calling on residents to put their best foot forward and step up for The Big Summer Walk.
It’s challenging people to walk, jog or run 100km between now and September 7, raising as much money as possible for Junior Achievement in the process.
The family-friendly challenge replaces a five-day trek on the El Camino De Santiago pilgrimage trail that was expected to raise £20,000 for the charity, which has been cancelled due to coronavirus.
The charity says the cancellation of the Spanish fundraiser was a ’huge hit’.
Junior Achievement chief executive Sue Cook said: ’By supporting our charity and taking part in The Big Summer Walk, you will enable us to continue our work with more than 5,000 children across the island to help them develop the skills they will need to get a job or start their own business once they leave education.
’The Big Summer Walk is designed to be a fun challenge which will get you out and about over the next few months, tracking your steps and exploring parts of the island you may have never been before.
Feel-good feel
’We want it to have a real feel-good community feel to it and will be sharing lots of photos, different routes to try and encouraging messages on our social media channels along the way.’
Everyone who completes the challenge and raises £35 or more will be awarded with The Big Summer Walk medal.
It is free to sign up and there is no minimum fundraising amount required.
There are prizes up for grabs too:
· Best photograph - the winning photo will be made into an eye-catching canvas
·Best video - Akaso 4K Sport Action waterproof camera with Ultra HD
· Most money raised by an individual - Fitbit Inspire HR fitness tracker
· Most money raised by a family or group - voucher for a stay in a Glen Helen luxurious glamping pod, donated by Glen Helen Glamping.
The challenge is sponsored by Chase Wealth Solutions.
