The smallest theatre company in the Isle of Man is ready to show off its latest, distinctly Manx-themed take on a classic fairy tale.

’Hello Little People’, the endlessly-inventive theatre group featuring only two actors, Michelle James and Chloe Shimmin, will present its Christmas pantomime, ’Cinderfella, Yessir!’, at the Kensington Arts Centre, from Tuesday, December 21 to Tuesday, December, 28, with the exception of Christmas Day.

As you can imagine, the pantomime is a unique and localised take on the classic fairy tale, Cinderella, complete with questionable choices of footwear, magical vegetables and well, I’m guessing, a fairy godmother, but with these two, you wouldn’t really know.

Chloe and Michelle, both professionally-trained actors, have created this show from scratch, drawing their familiar energetic and family-friendly entertaining style, mixed with their love of Manx history and folklore, to create a festive show aimed at both children and adults that will be unlike many others.

’We are passionate about making theatre accessible for the whole community, and that’s why we keep our ticket prices low to help accommodate this,’ said Michelle.

’We hope to bring the experience of theatre to everyone.

After launching Hello Little People in the summer of 2019, Michelle and Chloe have enjoyed a great deal of success with their productions, which included ’A Beg Adventure,’ held at Castle Rushen, ’Freaky Folklore’, which took audiences on a fun tour of the Manx Museum, and their impressive two-person production of Roald Dhal’s ’The Twits’, which was held at the Gaiety Theatre.

They also held their first panto, ’Juan and the Giant Beanstalk’, over Christmas last year.

’We are thrilled to be sharing another alternative pantomime with the families of the Isle of Man,’ said Chloe.

’After the sell-out shows and positive feedback from Juan and the Beanstalk last year, we can’t wait to be sillier, funnier and even more innovative this year with "Cinderfella, Yessir".’

There will be two performances of the panto on each day at 11am and 2pm.

Tickets are available online now, priced £15 for adults and £12 for children, from hellolittlepeople.com
