Laxey’s Christmas market will take place at the village’s Workingmen’s Institute, Laxey Glen Pavillion and the church at the weekend.

There will be almost 100 stalls but many stalls will be there for one day only and organisers hope visitors will go on both days.

Father Christmas will be in a grotto in the institute, and refreshments will be available at both of the main venues.

After last month’s flooding in the village, the institute’s volunteers hope to raise enough funds to help to cut back some of the trees that have grown alongside the riverbank opposite the flour mills area and which contributed to the flooding down river.

The markets will be there from 10am and 4pm.
