Church bells will ring out across the Isle of Man today to mark the death of The Duke of Edinburgh
Tenor bells at St George's in Douglas and at Peel Cathedral will ring at midday.
They will be tolled, half-muffled, 99 times by two members of the local ringing bands.
Prince Philip died at the age of 99 yesterday.
The Lieutenant Governor, Sir Richard Gozney, said the following on the Prince's death: 'I know that the Isle of Man joins me in expressing deep sadness at the death of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.
'I am sending a message of condolence from the island to HM The Queen.'
Chief Minister Howard Quayle made the following statement: 'It was with great sadness that I learned of the death of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh.
'Throughout his life the Duke of Edinburgh had a profound impact on national life, including here in the Isle of Man, not least through the Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
'His Royal Highness visited the Island on a number of occasions and many in our community will have fond memories of meeting him.
'On behalf of the Isle of Man Government I extend my sincerest condolences to Her Majesty The Queen and to the whole of the Royal Family.'
