Well, it’s panto, just not as you know it, especially when the handsome prince comes bearing a sparkling pair of Converse trainers instead of the usual glass slipper.

But that’s what you should really expect from a pantomime from the island’s tiniest theatre company.

The creative pair from Hello Little People are to bring ’Cinderfella, Yessir!’, their alternative pantomime to the Kensington Road Youth Arts Centre for 14 shows spread over the Christmas period.

Actors Chloe Shimmin and Michelle James will play all the roles in their loose and distinctly Manx-themed interpretation of the classic tale of Cinderella, using their familiar mix of high energy and infectious enthusiasm and charm.

The unique show follows on from the success of their first alternative pantomime, last year’s Juan and the Beanstalk, and the pair say that their family-friendly show, aimed at all ages, will celebrates all the quirks and qualities of the Isle of Man’.

"Cinderfella, YESSIR! is a story you think you know, told in a way you don’t,’ said Chloe.

’It’s full of silliness, imagination and catchy tunes. You will leave the show feeling giddy and full of Christmas spirit.’

Michelle James added: ’We can’t wait to ignite excitement amongst adults and children alike.’

The play opens on Tuesday, December 21, and will run until Tuesday, December 28, excluding Christmas day, with two hour-long shows a day, at 11am and 2pm.

Hello Little People recently launched their Solidarity Ticket scheme which donated 160 tickets to local charities who distributed them to people who would benefit from them, including Rebecca House, Salvation Army, local primary schools, A Little Piece of Hope and the Children’s Centre.

’We know Christmas can be a particularly hard, expensive time of year for some families,’ said Michelle.

’Hello Little People is passionate about making theatre accessible for everyone, and encouraging everyone to participate in the arts regardless of their background, and to allow families who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to come to our show to join us in having fun and spreading joy at Christmas.’

Tickets are £15 for adults and £12 for children, available from hellolittlepeople.com
