Ramsey Dog Club is returning to Crufts for a third year in a row.

Ten dogs from the club will be competing at the the event, organised by The Kennel Club at the NEC in Birmingham next month.

The group, led by Jean Young, will form part of the good citizen dog scheme displays.

Ramsey Dog Club is the only island registered club to run the Kennel Club Good Citizen training scheme and Puppy Foundation classes.

Jean explained: ’The Good Citizen Scheme is aimed at all abilities and ages, and ecourages responsible dog ownership while having fun with your dog.’

This is the third time in a row they have been asked to take part in the display which is a popular attraction.

Ramsey dogs are due to perform on Thursday and Friday at Crufts. They will cover some basic dog obedience and are performed as a routine to music.

In addition to the Good Citizen Award Silver Team, Voirrey Horne and her two- year-old border collie, Isla have been selected to represent Northern Ireland in the Inter-Regional Obedience Competition.

The Isle of Man is too small to send a team of its own, so the island is categorised under Northern Ireland.

Voirrey said that the club ’not only helps trains dogs to be brilliant pets but also raises awareness of responsible dog ownership, something which is very important, especially at this time of year with lambing season just beginning’.

Voirrey and Isla will be competing on Friday, March 9.

Ramsey Dog Club runs classes every Monday at 7pm at Andreas Parish hall.

Jean thanked their sponsors Blue Cottage boarding kennels, Hem and Boo and the Steam Packet.
