Claire Sproule-Craine is planning a marathon fundraising effort for the charity Crossroads Care.
Claire, a police officer and member of Northern Athletics Club, will be taking part in her first marathon, the London Marathon on April 22.
Joining 40,000 other runners, says she ’is in top condition and has put into place a 14 week training programme to prepare for the event.’
Claire, who lives in Maughold, has set herself the target of raising £2500 for Crossroads with donations being accepting online and is using a Facebook page to raise awareness to her efforts.
She is 33 and will be 34 by the time the marathon comes around.
Clare said: ’Training is going well despite the weather, I’m running four times a week and although it’s difficult around shifts it’s going well.’
If you would like to help Claire to raise sponsorship, visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/claire-sproule-craine or get in touch with Crossroads or visit ’Claire for Crossroads Care’ on Facebook.
This year, Crossroads is celebrating 30 years of supporting carers and a year of awareness raising and events is planned.
They say they ’currently provide over 120,000 hours of care every year to over 500 local families and rely mainly on donations.’
The charity asks if anyone would like to help an open fundraising committee meeting at The British Hotel in Douglas on January 29 at 6pm. Anyone can pop along and help us plan a year of events to celebrate local carers and the work we do.
