A team of dogs and their owners from the north of the island have returned home after competing at Crufts.

Crufts, held annually at the NEC, in Birmingham is the most famous dog show in the world and sees owners and dog lovers showcase a range of breeds and activities.

Voirrey Horne, who assisted the team from Ramsey Dog Club, said they ’were very proud to have been asked to send a team’.

It is the fourth time that the club have been asked by show organisers the Kennel Club to perform in the Good Citizen Scheme displays.

The Good Citizen Scheme is aimed at all abilities and ages and encourages responsible dog ownership while having fun with your dog.

Accordingly, the displays covered lots of elements of basic dog obedience and are in part performed as a fun routine to music.

Voirrey added: ’Ramsey Dog Club’s team this year consisted of dogs of all breeds, shapes and sizes who take part in various activities both in and out of club, from agility to breed showing, and family pets to obedience competitors.’

This year’s team was made up of Amy Carswell and Joey, Catherine Kennedy and Buddy, Cathy Kelly and Breear, Dawn Hendrickson and Chunk, Gemma Stockton and Asbo, Jean Young and Mary, Lynn Cross and Bonnie, Natasha Cushing and Woody and Tracy Duncan and Meg.

They were assisted by Bryony Jackson, Jeff Kelly, Lisa Walker, Louise Jackson, and Marie Horney.’

Voirrey said: ’The team performed the display three times a day on both the Thursday and Friday and all dogs and handlers enjoyed the experience and their time on the infamous green carpet.

’The team also held on to their title of "Temptation Alley" winners.’

The good citizen classes run every Monday at 7pm at Andreas Parish Hall. For more information search the club on Facebook.
