A Valentine’s themed coffee morning raised £400.
The Women in Song Community Choir event was held at the Centenary Centre, Peel, on February 14.
The room was decorated with hearts to reflect the date.
When the much loved Peel resident Audrey Quirk joined the women, the room erupted with ’Happy Birthday’ to celebrate her 96th birthday that day.
At her request Mike Durber sang a verse or two of ’I’m a Native of Peel’ with everyone joining in the chorus.
Many people braved the wet and windy weather to support the choir’s fundraiser and, thanking everybody for attending, Karen Elliott the choir’s musical director, announced that the event had raised just over £400 and the women were able to pledge £200 to the Peel and Western Anti-Cancer group.
