Isle of Man Drawing Club held a vintage fashion workshop on Friday.
The group offers what founder Kim Graziano describes as ’low pressure, low commitment social option’ for anyone who enjoys life drawing.
New York born Kim is an illustrator and graphic designer who now calls the Isle of Man her home.
She explains that the workshop was a departure from the club’s usual format:
’This was a one-off.
’We normally meet once a month at Noa Bakehouse for a two-hour drawing session.
’It’s not really a class: I just lead the group and offer a few drawing exercises but it’s really self-led.
’It’s more of a social thing and they are all encouraged to eat and drink and enjoy themselves.’
The club held its first session in June last year and has since proved very popular.
Kim says: ’We once had 70 people for one session but that was too crowded so now for every session at Noa Bakehouse I cap it at 50 tickets.’
Members can also expect to see more of the one-off instructional sessions like Friday’s workshop on fashion drawing.
That event was held at the Keird Collective pop-up shop in Onchan with help from local fashion blogger Gabriella Lucia Clague.
She arranged for local vintage clothing dealer, Flamingo, to bring a rack of clothes to help inspire the artists.
If you like the idea of joining one of the Isle of Man Drawing Club’s sessions Kim says: ’All are welcome, as long as you can enjoy a glass of wine, a laugh, and love to draw.’
The next session, at Noa Bakehouse tonight, is already sold out but the next one is planned for Thursday, March 15 at 7pm.
You can find more information on the Isle of Man Drawing Club Facebook page where there is also a link to buy tickets.
The regular monthly sessions costs £5.
Participants bring their own paper and drawing materials.
