One of the island’s largest choirs is inviting people to join it for a one-off performance of a famous piece of choral music to celebrate the ending of the recent lockdown.

The Isle of Man Choral Society is to host its special concert ’Come Sing Messiah’, at the Trinity Church, Rosemount, Douglas, on Saturday, June 26 and is inviting anyone who has sung Handel’s Messiah before to come and join in with them.

The concert will take place at 7pm and a rehearsal afternoon will take place on the same day at 3.30pm for those who want to lend their voices.

The choral society concert will be led by musical director Julian Power and also feature guest singers Karen Elliot, Mandy Griffin, Ernie Thorn and Graham Crowe , along with organist Gareth Moore and Matt Creer on the trumpet.

The choir will be singing from the Watkins Shaw edition of messiah, copies of which can be borrowed on the day.
